Members in New Brunswickare responding very well to the pledge cards campaigns!  Thanks to all locals who have completed, almost completed the project!  For the ones that are still working on it, please keep up the good work...  

Pledging support to your union is even more important in times where the Conservative Harper Government continues to target Union members every day.

On December 10th, International Human Rights Day, the Public Service Alliance of Canada honored the legacy of founding member, J. Calbert (Cal) Best (1926 – 2007).  Dr. Best was an African Nova Scotian human rights and labour activist from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.  He was the son of the late Dr. Carrie Best and Albert Best.  He was co-founded and President of the Civil Service Association of Canada that later merged to become the Public Service Alliance of Canada.  The Halifax Regional Office Boardroom was dedicated in memory of J. Calbert (Cal) Best.

Course Objectives:

At the end of the course participants will have:

The knowledge and the skills to perform their role during a strike;

Have the skills and confidence necessary to picket effectively;

Understand the personal problems that striking workers may face.

Have a trade union attitude towards strikes and know how   to conduct an effective strike at the local level;

Have the skills and techniques to motivate picketers, etc.   

Join thousands of Canadians who are telling their Members of Parliament to increase pension benefits under the Canada and Quebec Pension Plans, and implement a fully funded plan to phase in such an increase without delay.    Sign the CLC petition today.

HALIFAX, NS – On International Human Rights Day, the Public Service Alliance of Canada will honour  the legacy of founding member Dr. J. Calbert (Cal) Best (1926-2007).  Dr. Best was an African Nova Scotian human rights and labour activist from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, the son of Dr. Carrie M. Best and Albert Theophilus Best.  He was co-founder and president of the Civil Service Association of Canada, the pre-curser to the Public Service Alliance of Canada.  On Tuesday, the Halifax Regional Office of the PSAC will dedicate its board room to Best’s life and work.
