Pledging support to your union is even more important in times where the Conservative Harper Government continues to target Union members every day.

On December 10^th, International Human Rights Day, the Public Service Alliance of Canada honored the legacy of founding member, J. Calbert (Cal) Best (1926 – 2007).  Dr. Best was an African Nova Scotian human rights and labour activist from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.  He was the son of the late Dr. Carrie Best and Albert Best.  He was co-founded and President of the Civil Service Association of Canada that later merged to become the Public Service Alliance of Canada.  The Halifax Regional Office Boardroom was dedicated in memory of J. Calbert (Cal) Best.

Course Objectives:

At the end of the course participants will have:

The knowledge and the skills to perform their role during a strike;

Have the skills and confidence necessary to picket effectively;

Understand the personal problems that striking workers may face.

Have a trade union attitude towards strikes and know how   to conduct an effective strike at the local level;

Have the skills and techniques to motivate picketers, etc.
