Establishment of Asian Heritage Month
Asian Heritage Month was first officially recognized in December 2001, when the Canadian Senate adopted the month of May as Asian Heritage Month. This is an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the long and diverse history of Asian Canadians and their contributions to Canada, as well as the many struggles they face.
 
History of racial discrimination

Members of the Miramichi Area Council, Mike LeBlanc and Scott Cowan, presented a cheque of $1,000 from the PSAC Social Justice Fund and PSAC Atlantic Region to the Miramichi Food Bank in order to assist with the ice storm that hit the region earlier this year.

ST. JOHN’S, NL –Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) who are part of the Lecturers’ Union of Memorial University of Newfoundland (LUMUN) local 90500 offer their perspective and caution on the financial debate ongoing at the post-secondary institution as it deals with a financial crunch.

The PSAC-Atlantic Regional Council met in Charlottetown, PE April 22-23. PSAC members also organized a rally in front of the local MP’s office asking to fix the phoenix pay system.
