March 21st: International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

In 1966, the United Nations proclaimed March 21st as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
 
While there has been some progress with respect to racial justice, racism persists in Canadian society, there has also been some erosion of human rights over the past decade.

HALIFAX, NS - In conjunction with the Nova Scotia Federation of Labour (NSFL) and local community groups, PSAC-Atlantic’s Area Council will be holding a budget watch in Halifax, NS. 

WHAT: After watching the budget presentation, representatives from PSAC-Atlantic and local community groups will be available to speak to the media.

Celebrating International Women's Day

Members of the Halifax Regional Women's Committee celebrated International Women's Day at a sold out breakfast sponsored by the Nova Scotia Federation of Labour Women's Committee on Wednesday, March 8th. 

Rhonda Doyle LeBlanc, who is also the Maritime Director for Women, received the Sister of the Year Award.     Guest speaker for the breakfast was Becky Kent former NDP, MLA and now the Provincial Coordinator for the Transition House Association of Nova Scotia.  Also joining in the celebration was Danny Cavanagh, President of the Federation of Labour.
