Federal Government Employees Rally Asking the Government to Fix the Phoenix Pay System

MONCTON, NB – Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) employed by the Government of Canada will be rallying during National Public Service Week (NPSW) asking the government to fix the Phoenix Pay System.

18 activists crowded the Cal Best boardroom Monday June 5th for the June general meeting.

While Phoenix was very much a topic of discussion, Atlantic Convention, National Public Service Week, National Aboriginal Day activities, an area Council social, Pride events, Labour day and other events and actions were discussed.  Thanks to all for the great turn-out.

We join the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour and stand in solidarity with Beatrice Hunter.

See press release.

The 53rd New Brunswick Federation of Labour (NBFL) convention was held in Moncton from May 28 to 31, 2017.
Although many N.B. PSAC locals are affiliated with the NBFL, only a delegation of only 9 PSAC members participated to this convention. If your local is not already affiliated, please contact your PSAC regional office for more details on the advantages to be affiliated.

Your bargaining team met with your employer (St. John’s Port Authority) the week of May 9th. The parties have agreed to a few issues but we came to an impasse due to several concessions proposed by the employer, including elimination of severance benefits and marriage leave.
Our next steps:

We have applied for conciliation which means we are requesting the assistance of a conciliation officer from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. In the meantime, we will be meeting with the membership to discuss mobilization strategy.
