MIRAMICHI, NB – The Committee Against EI Changes will hold a community information session on Monday, February 18, 2013, to discuss reforms to the Employment Insurance system that came into effect January 13, 2013. 

A demo took place on Saturday, January 26 to unveil the new diet for EI recipients to Bernard Valcourt.  Conservative MP Bernard Valcourt was a guest speaker at an event at the Delta Beauséjour in Moncton where the public rallied to send a strong message to the Conservative MP and ask to scrap the changes to EI.  Another demo took place in Inkerman, NB where several hundred people rallied against the changes to EI.

The 2013 PSAC National Health and Safety Conference, will beheld April 12 to 14, 2013 at the Sheraton Hotel in Montréal, Québec under the theme “Mental Health at Work – We Are All Affected.”

On Friday, January 4th at 10:00 a.m. in front of Conservative MP Robert Goguen's office in Moncton, approximately 300 demonstrators  rallied against the E.I. changes which came into effect on January 6th.  Along with the organizers, union leaders, politicians; many seasonal workers including PSAC seasonal workers at Kouchibouguac National Park and Fundy National Park and other PSAC members were present at the rally.  Both the local and national media were present at the rally. 

OTTAWA – The proposed Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and other trade and investment treaties threaten the sustainability of fisheries and fishing communities, says a  new report from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA).

The Greater Moncton Human Rights committee offered a free presentation/film screening to highlight December 10th for PSAC members and the general public.

The Miramichi Area council committee had their AGM on Nov 29; the committee now has some new executive members.
