Dear Brothers, Sisters, Members, Friends, I would like to take this opportunity to properly introduce myself to you. My name is Michelle Neill and I was elected asDirector for Persons with Disabilities at our PSAC’s 7th Triennial Atlantic Convention held in June of 2017. When I addressed the Persons with Disabilities’ caucus, I advised that I wanted to improve upon a communication network for all persons with disabilities in our Region.

The Atlantic regional staff will attend their annual conference from November 5-9th. PSAC strongly believes in professional development and training for union staff. In order for all staff to participate, our regional offices will be closed during this period. If you have an urgent matter, please call Regional Coordinator Erin Sirett at 902-229-2123. Bargaining teams representing nearly 90,000 federal public service workers need your help. The next bargaining sessions will be held on November 27-29 for table specific proposals and December 4-6 for common issues proposals. At those sessions, our bargaining team members will need to demonstrate to the employer that they have the support of PSAC members.

Sisters, Brothers and Friends,   In response to the rotating strike action at Canada Post, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has requested that we proceed in our use of their services without any changes.   In the event that there is a picket line in front of any Canada Post Facility, do not cross it. Please support these members by joining their picket line or sending them messages of support.

Union of Health and Environment Workers (UHEW) Local 90002 is comprised of approximately 80 members who work for Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Members are mostly based at the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Centre in St. John’s, NL, with some members working at satellite locations around Newfoundland and Labrador. These members work for groups focusing on science research and ecosystems management. Members of the local provide administrative services, clerical and regulatory services, program administration, and scientific technical support.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada is negotiating a new collective agreement for nearly 100,000 Treasury Board employees working in the federal public service. Here are highlights from the major demands put forward at the common issues bargaining table: ADDRESSING PHOENIX To prevent another tragedy like Phoenix from ever happening again, PSAC is demanding greater consultation with the union before any technological changes are put in place affecting members.
