On July 24th, 2010, PSAC Nova Scotia proudly supported the Halifax Pride Parade by marching (and driving). Happy Pride!

On Tuesday, July 20th PSAC held a BBQ at Canadian Coast Guard premises, Southside, St. John's.  The BBQ was well-attended.  In addition to the funds raised, UCTE Local 90915 also made a donation to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.  A good time was had by all.

A BBQ was held for our UPCE members who work at the Canada Post Call Centre in Fredericton on Friday, June 25th.

Graduate, Teaching and Research Assistants at Memorial University of Newfoundland have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a first Collective Agreement with the University. “This is an historic moment,” said Juan Acevedo, President of the Teaching Assistants’ Union of Memorial University of Newfoundland.

USGE/PSAC members were up early this morning trying to prevent Correctional Services Canada (CSC) from removing the cattle from the farm at Westmorland Institution.  It was this morning that CSC were to remove the cows from the prison farm to taken them to an auction sale in Truro, Nova Scotia.

PSAC representatives were in Charlottetown this weekend to present its pension petition to Federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty.

The Greater Moncton Area Council was officially launched on June 9, 2010. Twelve members from various PSAC locals in the Greater Moncton area were in attendance. Jeannie Baldwin, REVP, was present and took the opportunity to talk to members on the different issues currently being worked on by PSAC.

On June 8th, Jeannie Baldwin PSAC REVP-Atlantic, joined Hassan Yussaf, CLC Secretary/Treasurer; Carl Pursey, PEI Federation of Labor; Mylo Murray, CUPE; Shelly Ward, UPSE: Eric Gauthier, CUPW; Everett Baker, Congress of Union Retirees of Canada; and Debi Buell, PSAC Federation of Labour Vice-President, for a presentation to PEI Premier Robert Ghiz and PEI Finance Minister Wes Sheriden.

PSAC 69081 members leafleted community members and band councillors in Listuguj Québec May 20 to protest management negotiators' threats of cuts and layoffs during conciliation.
