This is a reminder of the PSAC PEI Area Council meeting on September 9th 2014. Please note that we will doing the meeting in an alternate format to try to increase the participation of the PEI locals which was discussed at the PSAC Convention in June for those who were in attendance during the PEI Caucus meeting.

Some PSAC members from AGR, GSU and UNE along with the PSAC Atantic REVP and the newly elected GLBT director on the Atlantic council participated in the Moncton Pride Parade on August 23, 2014.

As you know, the next federal election will be held on October 19, 2015. On the 19th of every month, we are asking our members to be creative in highlighting the number 19 such as: standing outside your workplace for 19 minutes, wearing a piece of clothing with the number 19 or coming up with the 19 best ways of getting rid of the Harper Conservative government.-Our Sisters and Brothers of CEIU local 80226 from Sydney (NS) held a demo outside their workplace for 19 minutes during their lunch hour.

The PEI Health Coalition invites PSAC members to join them in a March & Rally, Friday August 29th at 12 p.m. The march will start from Trinity United Church and continue to the Convention Centre. For more information, please see attached poster.

The Nova Scotia PSAC Education Program is ready. Check out the courses that are being offered for the period of September to December 2014. The schedule has been modified to offer Bill C-4 Fighting for our Lives and Health & Safety in Sydney, NS

This year, many District Labour Councils in the New Brunswick region are organizing different activities for Labour Day. Please see details from the CLC - Atlantic region for Restigouche, Bathurst, Moncton, Saint John, Fredericton and Miramichi. See poster attached for more information.  All PSAC members and their families are invited to participate.

Members of PSAC’s Parks bargaining team met in Ottawa from July 22-24 to discuss key issues and finalize the package of demands in preparation for negotiations with the employer.

All PSAC members are invited to join the PEI Federation of Labour on August 2nd to walk in the Pride parade. We will meet at 12:00 noon in the parking lot of the Sullivan building near Victoria Park in Charlottetown - look for the PSAC flag. See attached poster for additional information.
