FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 12, 2017 Federal Government Employees Rally Asking the Government to Fix the Phoenix Pay System MONCTON, NB – Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) employed by the Government of Canada will be rallying during National Public Service Week (NPSW) asking the government to fix the Phoenix Pay System.

The 53rd New Brunswick Federation of Labour (NBFL) convention was held in Moncton from May 28 to 31, 2017. Although many N.B. PSAC locals are affiliated with the NBFL, only a delegation of only 9 PSAC members participated to this convention. If your local is not already affiliated, please contact your PSAC regional office for more details on the advantages to be affiliated.

As your Director for GLBT members on the PSAC-Atlantic Regional Council, I will soon be joining many PSAC members across Canada and people around the world to recognize the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. On May 17, 1990, the World Health Assembly of the World Health Organization approved the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-10) which no longer listed homosexuality as a diagnosis.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 11, 2017 Union Celebrates Legal Victory Against the University of New Brunswick HALIFAX, NS – The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) is celebrating a legal victory following a decision rendered by Justice Paulette C. Garnett on April 7, 2017 in the Court of Queen’s Bench of New Brunswick between the University of New Brunswick and PSAC.

Sisters and Brothers, On May 9, 1992, an explosion at the Westray Mine in Pictou County, Nova Scotia killed 26 miners working underground.  It was one of the deadliest mining disasters in Canadian history and led to new Criminal Code provisions – known as the Westray Law – that made it possible to prosecute corporate criminal negligence. You can find below information in regards to the event taking place on May 9 at the Westray Miners Memorial Park.
